Robinson was injured on a non-contact play on the third play of the game, and was put on season-ending IR after the fact. Robinson has played in 43 games since the 2014 season. He was named to the 2015 Pro Bowl after having a tremendous season. Robinson is the franchise’s fifth all time receiver with 202 receptions for 2,848 yards and 22 touchdowns.

Jacksonville may have to wait until rookie Dede Westbrook returns from the injured reserve list. But in the meanwhile, how about splitting Jalen Ramsey out wide as a receiver? Deion Sanders did it. In fact, he caught a 47 yard pass in Super Bowl XXX. Give Ramsey a special package in the passing attack, either as a target or decoy. It’s worth a try to ignite the passing attack that still misses Robinson being out there.

Players in every sport who sustain a major injury often say they go through a mourning period when they realize how many games they will miss and much time their rehabilitation will require.

Jaguars receiver Allen Robinson said he is not one of those players. He sustained a torn ACL while catching a 17-yard pass three plays into the Week 1 win at Houston.

“It’s an injury; I know I’ll bounce back,” Robinson said Monday night before his charity event at the Epping-Forest Yacht and Country Club. “I’m a football player. I love the game. I don’t expect myself to have any setbacks.”

Robinson’s charity, The Within Reach Foundation, was raising money for events throughout the year to help local children with school supplies/clothes and Christmas presents. Robinson expected around 130 people to attend the dinner and participate in a silent auction.

Robinson had surgery Sept. 13 and remains on crutches. The injury happened as he landed on his feet near the Texans’ sideline.

“Something didn’t feel right, but I didn’t know exactly what was wrong,” Robinson said. “I didn’t think at the time that it was [the ACL]. I had no idea. I was actually assuming that injury would feel a lot worse.”

Without Robinson, the Jaguars’ passing game is significantly worse – they enter Sunday’s game at Pittsburgh ranked 30th in passing yards per game (179.0).

Robinson said he still spends time around the Jaguars and his fellow receivers.

“I’m trying to do as much as possible,” Robinson said. “Those guys are pros and know what they’re doing so I don’t try to get in their way too much as far as telling them too many things.”

As soon as Robinson was diagnosed with the injury, speculation shifted to his future. A free agent after the season, his representatives and the Jaguars had pre-training camp contract talks and it is believed the team was comfortable using the franchise tag on Robinson next March if an agreement could not be reached. The injury may change the Jaguars’ strategy, though.

“It’s one of those things, you kind of don’t know what’s going to happen,” Robinson said. “It’s out there, but I’m not too concerned with it. I know I have the injury but as far as me, I know I’ve put a lot of good tape out there and come to work each day.”

Asked if staying with the Jaguars remains his preference, Robinson said: “For sure. This is my team.”

Injury report

Not practicing Wednesday were receiver Marqise Lee (ribs), strong safety Jarrod Wilson (shoulder) and center Brandon Linder (illness).

Also listed on the injury report but participated in all or part of practice were tailback Leonard Fournette (ankle), quarterback Blake Bortles (right wrist), receiver Jaelen Strong (hamstring), cornerback Jalen Ramsey (ankle), fullback Tommy Bohanon (knee), right guard A.J. Cann (hand), defensive tackle Malik Jackson (groin) and linebackers Donald Payne (hamstring) and Lerentee McCray (knee).

Strong did practice work for the first time since Sept. 20 and McCray was on the field for the first time since the Sept. 17 loss to Tennessee.

The Jaguars practiced outside but wore light shoulder pads (“spiders”) instead of going full pads.

Of playing three straight games away from Jacksonville, coach Doug Marrone said of handling the players this week: “We will do a couple things practice-wise. That comes into play, especially with the overtime. You get those extra plays in the overtime. For me, I have to look at how to manage the team. We will do a couple things that are a little bit different to help our team.”

Etc.

Robinson on his alma mater, Penn State, wearing numbers on its helmets last week; “Man, not only did they have the numbers, but the white cleats. Penn State having white cleats? I don’t know what to say. I’m speechless.” … Marrone on Pittsburgh linebacker Ryan Shazier, who has a team-high 37 tackles: “Probably playing as well as any linebacker in the league right now. I think he’s outstanding.”

For more than a decade the debate raged between Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu and Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed as to which was the best safety in the NFL. Now NFL writer Gil Brandt has put together his list of the best safeties of all time and on this list Polamalu comes out on top.

Polamalu came in at No. 2 on the list while Reed was just behind him at No. 4. Even though they were somewhat contrasting styles of player their time in the league together will forever link their careers.

During his 12-year career with the Steelers Polamalu started 142 games and had 770 tackles. He also finished with 32 interceptions which might not seem like a lot, but the reason you remember so many is they were often such dramatic plays at key times of games.

Also making the list from the Steelers was Donnie Shell who checked in at No. 8. Since his career ended back in 1987 he’s probably best known because he’s the best player from those great Steel Curtain defenses that isn’t in the Pro Football Hall of Fame but should be.

The Troy Polamalu — Ed Reed debate has finally been settled…for now.

On Wednesday, NFL.com’s Gil Brand tabbed Polamalu as the second greatest safety of all-time while selecting Reed as the fourth safety in NFL history. Brandt picked former Giant Emlen Tunnell as the greatest safety in NFL history.

An eight time Pro Bowler, four time All-Pro and the 2010 Defensive Player of the Year, Polamalu helped lead Pittsburgh’s run to a pair of championships in the 2000s. A nine time Pro Bowler, eight time All-Pro and the 2004 Defensive Player of the Year, Reed helped the Ravens win Super Bowl XLVII before retiring after the 2013 season.

After not starting as a rookie, Polamalu earned his first Pro Bowl selection in 2004, picking off five passes while helping the Steelers reach the AFC Championship Game. Polamalu was even better in 2005, earning his first All-Pro selection while spearheading Pittsburgh’s run to a victory in Super Bowl XL. He continued to improve with each passing season, and was one of the NFL’s best players by the end of the decade.

Reed started immediately, picking off five passes his rookie season while retiring with 64 career interceptions. His best season took place in 2004, when set an NFL record with 358 interception return yards. Reed led the NFL with nine interceptions while setting a league record with an 106-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Despite playing different positions (Polamlau played free safety, Reed played strong safety), the two were compared to one another throughout their careers. Both players were known for their intelligence as well as their peerless athleticism along with their ability to change the entire complexion of a game on a single play.

Ravens and Steelers fans will never forget when Polamalu made one of those patented plays in the 2008 AFC Championship Game. With Baltimore trailing by two late in the fourth quarter, Polamalu picked off rookie quarterback Joe Flacco and scampered 40 yards into the end zone to give the Steelers’ a 23-14 lead en route to a trip to Super Bowl XLIII.

“What makes teams great? What makes games great? It’s these opportunities that seldom come in the huge stage of the AFC Championship Game,” Polamalu told NFL Network back in 2009. “You have a rookie quarterback, you have a rookie coach on their sideline. You’re thinking ‘Wow. What a great time for them to come back and kick a field goal and beat their rivals that they’ve lost to twice.’ All those things are running through your head. What a great story that would be for them. But it didn’t happen that way.”

San Francisco wholesale authentic jerseys

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has weighed in on San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s decision to refuse to stand for the playing of the national anthem in protest of what he deems as racial injustice in the United States in addition to recent comments from the quarterback on Trump and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton wholesale authentic jerseys.

“I have followed it and I think it’s personally not a good thing. I think it’s a terrible thing, and you know, maybe he should find a country that works better for him, let him try, it’s not gonna happen,” Trump told The Dori Monson Show on Monday, per Buzzfeed.

Kaepernick has refused to stand during the national anthem during the Niners’ three preseason games this summer, telling NFL Media’s Steve Wyche that his decision is based on perceived societal wrongdoings against African-Americans and minorities in the U.S.

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color best wholesale jerseys website,” Kaepernick told Wyche Friday night. “To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

Kaepernick reiterated his stance during an 18-minute long media session in the Niners locker room Sunday, during which he told reporters he planned to continue to sit during the playing of the national anthem. Kaepernick also was critical of both Trump youth sports jerseys wholesale and Clinton when he met with the media.

“I think the two presidential candidates that we currently have also represent the issues that we have in this country right now,” Kaepernick said. “You have Hillary who’s called black teens or black kids super predators. You have Donald Trump who is openly racist. We have a presidential candidate who deleted emails and done things illegally and is a presidential candidate. That doesn’t make sense to me. Because if that was any other person, you’d be in prison. So what is this country really standing for?”

The Niners released the following statement this weekend regarding Kaepernick’s decision:

“The national anthem is and always will be a special part of the pre-game ceremony. It is an opportunity to honor our country and reflect on the great liberties we are afforded as its citizens. In respecting such American principles as freedom of religion and freedom of expression, we recognize the right of an individual to choose wholesale cheap jerseys and participate, or not, in our celebration of the national anthem.”
